Jacob Perry is a Junior at New Bern High School who represents what it means to be both a dedicated student and a determined athlete. In the classroom, Jacob excels academically, maintaining excellent grades while taking on the challenge of multiple honors-level courses. He genuinely enjoys school and takes pride in pushing himself to succeed in every subject he studies. His hobbies include playing video games, theme park rides, and hanging out with his friends and family. Jacob’s life journey has been anything but ordinary. As the son of a United States Marine, he has moved frequently throughout his life, experiencing a wide range of cultures and environments. He has lived in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; Tallinn, Estonia; Arizona; and Virginia — experiences that have shaped his character, broadened his worldview, and strengthened his adaptability. Each move required resilience, maturity, and the ability to build new relationships quickly — qualities that now serve him well both in academics and athletics. Unlike many wrestlers who begin at a very young age, Jacob did not start wrestling until the 6th grade. Despite starting later than most competitors, he has rapidly developed his skills through discipline, work ethic, and a willingness to learn. His growth in the sport is a testament to his determination and competitive drive. Looking ahead, Jacob aspires to wrestle at the collegiate level while pursuing a degree in either law or business.
