Wrestling has been a huge part of my life since first grade. Initially, the sport served as a way to channel my innate competitive nature and drive to win, but, by middle school, I fell in love with all aspects of the sport - not just the glory, but the grind of training, repetition, and mental anguish that comes with competing to win at a high level. Also integral to my love of the sport are the continued challenges and lessons learned on the mat that I can apply to life in general. These lessons in focus, determination, confidence, leadership, mental toughness, and quick decisionmaking have molded me into the person I am today, and I imbue them to others in my roles as student, teammate, captain, student council officer, friend, and older sibling. Through continuous improvement and dedication, I aspire to wrestle at the collegiate level for a program that gains me access to a rigorous, STEM-related education. Specifically, I’d like to major in either chemistry, engineering, or computer science. While wrestling is a huge part of my life, academics reigns supreme in my future endeavors. Consequently, I am seeking admission to a school of high academic status that I can leverage after my wrestling career has ended. Ideally, this college will also have a high-caliber wrestling team that will push me to continue to grow as a student athlete.
